The BBC and National Geographic have documented this unique and incredible spectacle of nature right here in Baja California! This natural and safe animal encounter is accessible to anyone who loves to be in the water - there is no age restriction! This is one of nature's great events and it happens in very few places around the world... but it happens right here in Cabo every summer! Cabo Private Guide is a bespoke adventure water tours company in Los Cabos specialising in private tours with awe-inspiring wildlife. We have expert guides who are all PADI Divemaster trained as a minimum but are also very accustomed to being in the water with all kinds of large aquatic animals. We offer video footage to document this special day. The super squadrons of mobula rays travel up and down the Sea of Cortez.

What to expect

The tour starts at headquarters to fit equipment and then we walk 8 minutes to the boat. Your guide will give a briefing about Best Practice behaviours before setting off to scout for huge super squadrons of mobula rays! NO SIGHTINGS ARE GUARATEED and so we snorkel for one hour at the reef during this tour so you can see some of the reef wildlife if nothing is found in the blue. When spotted, the rays swim close to the surface but also swim further down deep. If you're an avid freediver you can head down to meet them. You will be in deep water and will be offered a life jacket. The activity involves a certain level of fitness as you will need to swim along to keep up! The captain will position himself close to the rays, but we don't want to disturb them by moving the boat over them, so you will need to swim out a little way to meet them. Occasionally they will come to us and move around under the boat which means we can just hang there and watch! We find that 3 hours on the water is an optimal tour length and will head back in at that time. This tour is best in the morning, Checking in at 7am.
