Explore with a local host and take part in hanami with a Japanese picnic featuring a bento box, shared sushi platter, Japanese sweets, and two drinks. Alongside sightseeing and photography, make time to settle in, savor the food, and enjoy the blossoms around you. Before you meet, a short Personalization Form helps your host plan around your interests, whether you’re curious about garden design, the city’s history, or its spring traditions. Please note that this itinerary is not fixed. Your host will plan the route and picnic location around your preferences, cherry blossom conditions, weather, and park rules.

  Developed over generations by the Maeda family, Kenrokuen is one of Japan’s three great gardens. Ponds, stone lanterns, and winding paths give you plenty to discover, with cherry blossoms adding color to the spring scenery. Stroll with your host to learn how these features work together in the garden’s design, pausing to appreciate the views and take photographs along the way. Explore with your host and learn about the Maeda family’s influence on the city. When conditions allow, a suitable area of the park may also become the setting for your hanami picnic. Settle in with your bento box, shared sushi platter, Japanese sweets, and drinks as your host shares the customs behind this spring gathering. Your host may choose another picnic location depending on the day’s conditions. Tickets for any separately charged castle buildings are not included.
