Climb the amazing Mt Toubkal (4167 m) and explore some of the most spectacular places in the area such as the Imlil Valley, Toubkal Massif and the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch.
Toubkal can be climbed on a two day trip departing from Marrakech. An extended 3-day trip gives you the opportunity to take things a little bit slower, which means more photo breaks, more one-on-one time with your guide to learn about Berber culture and traditions, and more opportunities to take in all the sights, sounds and smells of rural Morocco.
Climb Jebel Toubkal on a popular 3 day trek and explore the most spectacular valley of Imlil and the Toubkal Massif.
This is the best 3-days-long mount of Toubkal trek for beginners to reach Morocco's and North Africa’s highest peak. Toubkal is of course the most desired destination of mountain trekking enthousiasts.
In case you did not send us your hotel adress, we expect to meet you outside Café Argana in Jamaa Elfna square at 8:30 a.m
Pick up from your hotel at 8:30 a.m. Then transfer to the little village of Imlil (1h30m) where you begin your trek.
Heading along the Imlil Valley, we first pass the village of Aremd and then onto the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch. We reach it by crossing the floodplains as/and? our route takes us along a mule trail. Having crossed the river we eventually come to the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, which attracts tourists and pilgrims.
From here the trail continues to climb steadily, snaking and zigzagging its way up to Toubkal refuge (3207m), our stop for the night.
Early in the morning you make your attempt to the summit of Jebel Toukbal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Our trail takes us up the north cirque, crossing the river above the refuge. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the scree and the altitude may make walking quite difficult at times. The views along the way are amazing, breathtaking and make the journey more than worthwhile. When you reach the summit you will enjoy stunning views across the surrounding landscape. From Toubkal summit there are unrestricted views in every direction, from the Marrakesh Plain to the High Atlas in the north and as far south as the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara. After the rest at the peak (picture taking time included), you will retrace you steps and return to Toubkal refuge to spend there another night.
The next day you retrace your steps back towards Imlil, following the trail through the village of Armed and the Mizane Valley. You will walk around the Berber villages of Imlil Valley to find out more about the lifestyle of the Berbers. Once you arrive back to Imlil, a car will be waiting to take you back to Marrakech.
