Start Point
We start our adventure for the day at the Ushuaia Cartel, where we can take photos of this iconic site.
From the Ushuaia sign, we began to travel on foot, amid stories and anecdotes, in the direction of Bahía Encerrada, passing through a site that gave rise to the city, the Upper Mission. From the panoramic view of the Bay we will be able to contemplate the city as a whole, and understand through the story of our guides, the rich history of our ancestors, as of old settlers.
The Antigua Casa Penna is a beautiful old Fuegian-style house, where we will see items donated by ancient settlers, and learn a little more about how the Fuegians lived and currently live.
Arriving at Casa Beban, passing through Casa Pena beforehand, and having seen the objects of extremely rich historical value from ancient settlers, we are going to delve into part of Fuegian history. Casa Beban belonged to the Beban family, of Croatian, Dalmatian origin, dedicated to a large extent to the provision of general supplies from Punta Arenas to Ushuaia, through its two schooners.
Then, we will get to know the Plaza Malvinas, and we will be able to contemplate its history, as well as the history of the war conflict of 1982.
We will get to know this emblematic building and its history, forged by pleasant moments and anecdotes, where various dependencies functioned through the ages.
After having toured the Monument to Günter Pluschow, and learning about his history as a pioneering aviator in the region, we will continue our way through the Bay to learn about the history of the ship that remained an icon of the bay, the Saint Christopher. Next, we will continue to the Civic Square of the city, to learn about its history, forged since October 12, 1884 when the national flag was raised for the first time.
Finally, we can taste spirits and artisan alphajores accompanied by an exquisite hot chocolate or coffee, in a warm Ushuaia confectionery, amid pleasant company and warm attention.
