Immerse yourself in the most surprising part of the Moroccan desert, and contemplate the contrasts offered by its different Landscapes as you cross Motorways, Dirt Tracks, Valleys, Ports, Mountain Gorges and Historic towns.
Will cross the High Atlas Mountains through the famous Tizi n'Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters above sea level. During the journey there will be panoramic stops to enjoy the dramatic mountain landscapes, traditional Berber villages built into the hillsides, and scenic viewpoints perfect for photographs.
Will explore the historic fortified village of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The guide will walk through the ancient earthen alleys, explain the traditional architecture of the ksar, and point out filming locations from famous movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Kingdom of Heaven. Visitors can climb to the hilltop granary for panoramic views over the Ounila Valley.
Stop in Ouarzazate, often called the “Gateway to the Sahara”. Travelers will see the impressive Taourirt Kasbah, one of Morocco’s best-preserved kasbahs. The guide will explain the history of the Glaoui dynasty and the importance of the kasbah in controlling caravan routes across southern Morocco.
Will drive through the Skoura Oasis along the famous “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs”. This fertile palm grove contains many historic kasbahs surrounded by date palms and traditional villages fortified residences protected local tribes and caravan trade routes.
Drive through the Valley of the Roses, known for its fragrant rose fields and traditional rose-water production. Travelers may stop briefly at a local cooperative where rose-based cosmetic products and essential oils are produced.
Arrival at the spectacular Dadès Gorges where dramatic rock formations and winding roads cut through the mountains. Travelers will enjoy scenic viewpoints overlooking the valley before heading to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
After eaten breakfast we set off towards the Dadès Valley, crossing on the way the incredible Todgha Gorges one of the most impressive natural canyons in Morocco. Massive limestone cliffs rise up to 300 meters on both sides of a narrow valley. Visitors will have time to walk along the riverbed, explore the dramatic rock walls, and observe local Berber villages nearby.
Stop in Erfoud, a town famous for its fossil workshops and date palm plantations. Travelers may visit a local fossil artisan workshop where prehistoric marine fossils from the Sahara are transformed into decorative objects and furniture.
Arrival at the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga. These towering golden dunes reach heights of up to 150 meters and form one of the most iconic desert landscapes in Morocco. Travelers will prepare for the camel trek that will take them deep into the Sahara desert. will ride camels across the sand dunes of the Sahara while watching the sunset over Erg Chebbi. The trek follows traditional desert routes used by nomads and caravan traders. Upon arrival at the desert camp, guests will enjoy Moroccan dinner, traditional Berber music around the campfire, and the opportunity to admire the clear star-filled desert sky.
Early in the morning travelers will wake up to witness the sunrise over the Sahara dunes. The changing colors of the sand create a unique landscape ideal for photography. After breakfast at the desert camp, Ride camels back across the dunes to reach the village of Merzouga where the driver will be waiting to begin the return journey.
During the return trip we will pass through the scenic Draa Valley, known for its long ribbon of palm groves, ancient kasbahs, and traditional villages. The valley follows Morocco’s longest river and offers some of the most impressive oasis landscapes in southern Morocco. Stop in Ouarzazate for lunch and a short rest before continuing the journey back to Marrakech. Travelers can relax in a local restaurant and enjoy views of the surrounding desert landscape.
The return journey continues across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass. We will enjoy panoramic views of mountain valleys and Berber villages before arriving back in Marrakech in the evening.
