The tour begins in Honningsvåg, where your guide introduces you to the story of the “People of the North.” Here you’ll learn how fisheries, the ocean, and the harsh Arctic climate have forged a unique culture over more than a millennium. This is a vivid introduction to Arctic life — its resources, traditions, and the resilience that defines the people who live here.
We continue westward toward the small fishing village of Gjesvær. The landscape opens toward the vast ocean, offering insight into how nature and the sea have been the lifeline of generations. A place where history, fisheries, and Arctic wilderness meet. Here we visit our traditional seaside boathouse, where you will taste a piece of northern history through local specialties such as dried cod and reindeer meat — ingredients that have long sustained life in the Arctic. We finish with traditional Norwegian waffles served with berry jam from our region. You will also have the chance to experience the elements and the ocean up close, as the boathouse sits directly at the water’s edge.
The journey continues up to the North Cape plateau, rising 307 meters above the sea. Here you encounter the iconic Globe Monument, dramatic cliffs, and panoramic views of the Barents Sea. Your guide will share stories of expeditions, early explorers, local traditions, and the North Cape’s role as one of the world’s most famous lookout points. On clear days, the horizon bends toward the North Pole. On days with weather — and we often get plenty — the North Cape reveals itself as the wild, raw, and powerful place it has always been. You will then have approximately 1 hour of personal time to explore the North Cape visitor center and museum on your own.
