Rockaway Beach is the best place to learn to surf! We have sand-bottomed beginner-friendly waves all year round and occasional world class surf for intermediate and expert surfers when big South swells roll into the city’s only surfing beach.

Meeting point

Surfing is held on the sand at Beach 108th Street in Rockaway Beach. The closest address for your GPS is the “Rockaway Beach Roller Hockey Rink”. Look for our Purple Flags & Purple/Blue tent on the sand in front of the hockey rink. If you have any problems finding us, just send us a text.

What to expect

Book a private lesson for one person. Includes Basic Surfing Technique Training & Ocean Safety on the beach with 1 hour of Surfing time in the water with a Certified Instructor. We’ll see what level you’re at and work on your individual surf needs. Rockaway Beach is a safe, beginner-friendly surf zone with waves all year long. We'll provide the surfboard & wetsuit. Just bring a swimsuit. See you at the beach!
