Upon arrival in Aswan—whether by airport, train station, or hotel—you’ll be warmly greeted by your licensed guide from Sphinx of Egypt Travel. You’ll be transferred in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle to your luxurious 5-star Nile Cruise. If your arrival is early, we’ll begin the tour right away to make the most of your time, as check-in is at noon.
Your Aswan adventure starts with a visit to the High Dam, one of Egypt’s greatest modern engineering achievements, built in the 1960s to control Nile flooding and generate electricity.
Then, journey to the magnificent Philae Temple, nestled on an island in the Nile and dedicated to the goddess Isis. This Graeco-Roman sanctuary reflects ancient devotion and myth.
After lunch on board the cruise, you’ll enjoy a peaceful motorboat ride along the Nile to the vibrant Nubian Village on Soheil Island. Meet welcoming local families, learn about their traditions, enjoy a refreshing drink, and stroll the colorful village with your guide. Return to the cruise to relax and spend the night aboard, ready for the next day’s explorations.
Early in the morning, around 4:30 AM, your guide will accompany you on a group trip (or optional private tour) to the awe-inspiring Abu Simbel Temples, located approximately 290 km southwest of Aswan. These monumental rock-cut temples were built by King Ramses II in the 13th century BC as a tribute to himself and Queen Nefertari. Now a Heritage Site, the temples were remarkably relocated in the 1960s to save them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.
After returning to your Nile Cruise, lunch will be served as you sail north toward Kom Ombo. In the afternoon, you will visit the unique twin temple of Kom Ombo, built during the Ptolemaic dynasty and dedicated to two gods—Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon-headed god. The temple’s symmetrical design is rare, with duplicate courts, halls, and sanctuaries for each deity. Admire the temple’s well-preserved reliefs and learn about the ancient rituals and healing practices once performed here. Then return to your cruise to relax and enjoy dinner onboard as you continue sailing toward Edfu.
After breakfast, begin your morning with a charming horse-drawn carriage ride through the city of Edfu. Accompanied by your expert guide, you will visit the magnificent Temple of Horus—one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. Built during the Ptolemaic period between 237 and 57 BC, this grand structure is dedicated to the falcon god Horus and offers detailed inscriptions that reveal stories from ancient mythology, including the legendary battle between Horus and Seth.
Following your visit, return to the Nile Cruise and continue sailing toward Luxor. Enjoy lunch on board while cruising through the scenic Nile Valley, observing rural life and lush riverbanks along the way.
Upon arrival in Luxor in the late afternoon, disembark to explore the stunning Luxor Temple, beautifully lit as the sun sets. Built during the 18th and 19th Dynasties, this temple was dedicated to the Theban Triad—Amun-Ra, Mut, and Khonsu. Admire the towering columns, colossal statues, and intricate carvings that have stood the test of time.
After the visit, return to your cruise for dinner and a relaxing evening onboard as you prepare for another day of exploration in Luxor.
Begin your final day with an unforgettable experience—an early morning hot air balloon ride over Luxor's West Bank. Watch the sunrise illuminate the sky as you drift above majestic temples, ancient tombs, and the Nile Valley. This peaceful aerial journey offers a breathtaking view of Egypt’s timeless landscape.
After landing, return to your Nile Cruise for breakfast and check out.
Then, embark on a guided tour of Luxor’s West Bank, starting with a visit to the Colossi of Memnon, the towering statues that once guarded a vast mortuary temple.
Next, head to the Valley of the Kings, the royal burial ground of Egypt’s most powerful pharaohs. Walk through elaborately decorated tombs carved into the mountainside, rich with ancient art and hieroglyphs.
Continue to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, an architectural marvel that tells the story of Egypt’s most famous female ruler.
Conclude your tour on the East Bank with a visit to Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex ever built. Marvel at its massive columns and sacred halls.
After your exploration, you will be transferred to Luxor Airport, hotel, or railway station, concluding your enriching journey along the Nile.
