Upon arrival in Luxor, guests are transferred to the luxurious Dahabiya Nile cruise vessel. The journey begins with an exploration of Luxor’s West Bank, home to some of Egypt’s most significant archaeological treasures.
The Valley of the Kings served as the burial ground for pharaohs and nobles of the New Kingdom. Visitors enter elaborately decorated tombs, including those of Tutankhamun, Ramses VI, and Seti I. The vivid hieroglyphs and well-preserved artwork provide insight into ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife.
This mortuary temple, dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut, is an architectural masterpiece carved into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. The temple’s terraces, colonnades, and reliefs depict the queen’s divine birth and trading expeditions to Punt.
Two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III guard the entrance to his now-vanished mortuary temple. These towering figures, each standing 18 meters tall, have stood for over 3,400 years.
After enjoying breakfast, sailing to Edfu
One of Egypt’s best-preserved temples, Edfu’s Temple of Horus, is dedicated to the falcon-headed god. Its massive pylons, grand courtyard, and inner sanctuaries showcase Ptolemaic-era architecture. The temple’s walls depict the mythical battle between Horus and Seth.
The evening offers relaxation on the Dahabiya’s sun deck, with panoramic Nile views as the vessel continues southward.
After enjoying breakfast, we sailed to Kom Ombo
Relocated to Agilkia Island after the construction of the Aswan High Dam, Philae Temple is dedicated to Isis. Its elegant columns, kiosk of Trajan, and floodlit sound-and-light shows make it a highlight of the cruise.
Transfer to Dahabiya for Continued Nile Sailing Toward Aswan
Following breakfast, guests are picked up from the Dahabiya and transported in a private air-conditioned vehicle, accompanied by an expert Egyptologist guide for a comprehensive exploration of Aswan’s key landmarks. The first site is the Temple of Philae, an iconic monument dedicated to the goddess Isis. Constructed beginning around 690 BC, Philae Temple represents one of the final architectural achievements in the classical Egyptian tradition. The temple remained an active site of worship until at least AD 550, reflecting the enduring legacy of the cult of Isis. The experience begins with a boat transfer that drops visitors near the Kiosk of Nectanebo, the oldest existing structure on the island. The approach to the temple is marked by the first pylon, standing 18 meters high, adorned with significant reliefs depicting Ptolemy XII Neos Dionysos subduing enemies—a powerful representation of ancient Egyptian royal iconography and religious symbolism.
Following the temple visit, the itinerary proceeds to the Aswan High Dam, a modern engineering accomplishment on a monumental scale. Located approximately 13 kilometers south of Aswan, the dam exemplifies Egypt’s 20th-century infrastructural development. It incorporates 18 times the volume of material used in the construction of the Great Pyramid of Khufu. The creation of the dam led to the formation of Lake Nasser, one of the world’s largest man-made lakes. The visit provides a detailed overview of the dam's historical, environmental, and political significance in reshaping Egypt’s agricultural and energy sectors.
An early morning departure (by road or air) takes guests to Abu Simbel, one of Egypt’s most awe-inspiring sites. Abu Simbel Temples Carved into a mountainside by Ramses II, the Great Temple features four colossal statues of the pharaoh. The smaller Temple of Hathor honors Queen Nefertari. The relocation of these temples in the 1960s remains an engineering marvel. After the tour, guests return to Aswan airport
