Offered in: English and 2 more

Inaugurated in 80 CE and also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, the Colosseum is the symbol of the Roman Empire and, at the same time, the heart of entertainment. On this tour, you will have the opportunity to learn how it was built and its historical significance for the Jewish community. You will also visit the Arch of Titus, whose symbolism is central to Jewish communities all over the globe. Here you will see carved in marble the seven-branched candelabrum called the Menorah and the additional goods stolen from the Temple of Jerusalem, destroyed by Titus during the Jewish War in Judea in 70 CE. This triumphal arch is located at the foot of the Palatine Hill on the Via Sacra, leading to the Roman Forum, which was the heart of social and political life in Rome. Visit Rome in a Jewish atmosphere. Suitable for Couples, Students, and under request Family with kids will have a scavenger hunt version of the tour.
