This is tour that aimes to explain complicated history of Zadar. The conflicts and wars are always difficult subject and local people are sensitive about it. The certified local guide is here not only to show you but also explain you these things. What you learned in history class might have quite specific infuence in location where it happened. The recent history, from fascism that started WWII, through communism and its fall in 1990s brought a lot of a paine in the teritory of ex-Yugoslavia. Zadar and other parts of Croatia suffered throughout Homeland war. Your guide is here to help you learn unknown details, explain complicated relations and answer your questions.

    The licensed local guide will meet you by the info panel about the most recent war that effected Zadar. From there we will have about an hour and half walking around Zadar old town to review historical keypoints as well as visible military structures and political statements.

    The guide will explain how the square evolved through historical and polital changes. You will be invated to read some signs on your own.

    Dračevac Zadarski is a hilltop at the periphery of the city witnessing centuries of various campaigns aiming to conquer Zadar. You will get an insight into wars of Venice and Ottomans, see the remains of elaborate fascists fortifications and the results of communist indocrtination in the last days of ex-Yugolsavia.
