Embark on a wildlife safari to encounter humpback whales between Paea and Papara, a still relatively untouched area. Our experienced and passionate guides will share information about their biology and supervise you if whale watching is possible, always respecting the approach guidelines established by the DIREN (Regional Directorate for the Environment).
You will board the Stenella, a comfortable and spacious 28-foot modern boat.
Please note: The weather can change rapidly. If you are prone to seasickness, consult your pharmacist. Bring sun and rain protection. We provide snorkeling equipment if you don't have your own.
Whale sightings are not guaranteed. These are unpredictable wild animals.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
NO PICK-UPS. The fishing port is located before marker 33/27 (27km from Papeete/33km from Taravao) in Paea, after the ILM research center. You will see our Mobydick Tahiti sign. Please note: The meeting point may change depending on the weather (Punaauia).
What to expect
We explore a sparsely frequented area in Paea and Papara, allowing us to approach the animals with respect. If all conditions are met, our guides will authorize you to enter the water, in accordance with the approach rules established by the DIREN. We have a listening system on board that broadcasts the calls of the males.
To suit your preferences, three options are available:
- Boat 6 swimmers (+observers)
If you wish to fully enjoy the water entry in a small group
- Boat 12 swimmers max
For those on a tighter budget. If more than 6 passengers want to go in the water, a rotation system will be implemented.
- Private boat for 1 to 12 passengers maximum
The guide reserves the right to refuse swimming depending on the conditions. You must be able to swim at least 200 meters with fins, mask, and snorkel. Children under 10 years old are not allowed to swim.

- The boarding is immediate, there is no changing room nor office. We don"t have pick-up service.
