Etna Urban winery is a unique wine tourism experience. It is located in a natural spot on Etna surrounded by the expanding city, where we have decided to revive the historical family Etna viticulture.
We are motivated by the love for a 8 generations' family property, and the desire to show that a different use of land is possible and feasible even within city's suburbs, that still retain the character of a typical Etna lava field.
You will visit the vineyards at your own pace through the self guided vineyard trail. Take time to enjoy your walk, stop at viewpoints and learn at the information boards. Immerse in the austere atmosphere of our 1790 historical winery and still largely in its original shape.
And finally, explore our cousine! Our resident chef Leonardo is looking forward to delight you with a culinary journey across the four slopes of Etna, 4 wines paired with 4 gourmet bites, followed by a main course.

What to expect
You will get a full experience of an urban vinery on the slopes of Mount Etna!
Vineyard Walk
The tour will start with a walk across urban vineyards nestled between Catania and Etna. Its a unique urban trekking along rare dry-stone made buildings, a urban forest and an olive grove. If you come with children I will give them their own treasure map . Bring comfortable closed- toes shoes.
Palmento Visit
Back from the field, you will discover our 18th century Palmento (traditional Sicilian winery), that is among the largest and best preserved in the area, still equipped with its large chestnut wood barrels and the grape pressing machine dating 1790. A rare jewel to be seen! Here you will also hear of some family stories from our ancestor’s diaries.
Wine Tasting Journey
The tour will finish with a tasting experience on contemporary Etna culinary landscape. You will taste wines from 4 different wineries around the vulcano, each paired with a gourmet bite prepared by our resident chef Leonardo, to finish your day relaxing in our courtyard or the garden looking at Etna
