Enroute from the Airport ,visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (approx 2.5 hours drive)and see baby jumbos wandering around in their foster home, being bottle fed and bathed by their human foster fathers. This is the home to more than 100 elephant orphans and the most popular elephant attraction where you will see so many elephants at such proximity. Pinnawala is about 75km from Colombo towards Kandy. The orphanage is open open from 8:30 am to 5:45 pm. You can interact with elephants during their regulated feeding and bathing times. You can bottle feed baby elephants if interested which will require advance booking of the slot.
After the Pinnawala stop, drive to Kandy for about 1.5 hours enjoying the picturesque green landscape. Kandy is the last Royal Capital of Srilanka which is a major tourist destination. The city is rich in cultural diversity and immerse yourself in the city by visit to ancient temples, cultural performances and dance shows.
The main attraction of the city and the most sacred temple where one of Buddha's teeth is being kept. The temple which is venerated by thousands of local & foreign devotees and tourists daily was named as a world heritage by UNESCO in 1988. A dress code applies for entering the temple which is modest dressing -knees and shoulders need to be covered.
Vist the Royal Botanical Garden which was once a pleasure garden of a Kandyan Queen, a beautiful park with tropical foliage, located near the Mahaweli River. The sprawling grounds are filled with historical trees, stunning flowers, and inviting lawns.
Kandy Cultural and dance show is a great way to spend the evening in Kandy. You would enjoy show stoppers such as fire walking and acrobatics in great traditional outfits. The traditional dance performance offers a rich cultural experience beyond the city’s beautiful views. As many as 12 different folk and traditional dances are performed by Kandy Lake Club dance troop within a span of an hour. It's recommended to book your seats in advance so that you can experience the performance comfortably while enjoying the snacks and drinks served .
Kandy is synonymous with arts and crafts of Sri Lanka than anywhere else in the country. Kandy is probably the best place to buy most of the handicrafts produced in Sri Lanka because there are number of shops catering to the tourists. You can watch local crafts coming into life at the Art Association.
After breakfast at Kandy, proceed towards Nuwraeliya. Situated at around 2000 m above sea level, it has wonderful mountain panorama surrounding the wide valley. Nuwareliya is the heart of Sri Lanka, main hill resort surrounded by lush tea plantations. You can indulge yourself in many activities while you are in Nuwaraeliye like golfing, horse riding, boating, hiking and visit to tea factory. At the Tea factory, you can see the different stages of processing of tea leaves till packaged tea. You can enjoy a freshly brewed cup of tea and even buy some premium and rare tea at their tea outlets.
Enjoy beautiful views of nature's own wonderful creation, Ramboda Waterfall. The fall offers an impressive display of cascading water against a lush, forested backdrop , known for its ethereal beauty. You can relish your lunch at 'Tea Bush Hotel' while surrounded by mountains.

Experience White Water Rafting in the picturesque Kelani River, covering 5 major rapids and 4 minor rapids. This activity is for anyone above the age of 10 years. Safety gear, modern rafts, and a comprehensive safety briefing will be given by white water rafting instructors beforehand. The distance covered is around 5 kms.
