Looking for a private tour to Mt. Fuji with a chance to experience Japan’s iconic Bullet Train, the Shinkansen? This tour is perfect for you.
Your licensed, English-speaking guide will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel in Tokyo, making the day smooth and stress-free. Enjoy an exciting Bullet Train ride before switching to a private rental car in Hakone, where your guide will drive you through scenic mountain roads to Lake Ashi and even up toward Mt. Fuji, depending on the season.
This carefully curated private tour promises an unforgettable experience, combining high-speed rail, breathtaking scenery, and the natural beauty that makes Japan so special.
We will inform you of the exact meeting spot at the hotel you choose as your meeting point. Please arrive at the meeting spot 5 minutes before the tour begins.
The tour guide will pick you up from most hotels in central Tokyo. If your hotel is not on the list, please let us know—we may still be able to arrange a convenient pick-up. After meeting your guide, you’ll take a subway or local train to Tokyo Station, where the real excitement begins. From there, hop aboard Japan’s legendary Shinkansen—better known as the Bullet Train. Settle into your seat and enjoy an incredibly smooth, comfortable ride as the train speeds through the landscape at breathtaking speed. In just about 35 minutes, you’ll arrive at Odawara Station, turning travel time into a thrilling experience you’ll never forget.
After arriving at Odawara Station, your guide will arrange a rental car near the station to serve as your private transportation for the rest of the tour. Please note that under current Japanese law, only National Licensed Guide Interpreters (Zenkoku Tsuyaku Annaishi) are permitted to accompany foreign guests in private or rental cars. The only exceptions are taxis or registered commercial vehicles with green license plates, which are operated by drivers holding a commercial (Type 2) driver’s license.
Hakone Shrine is the oldest and most important Shinto shrine in the region. Its main hall stands solemnly amid an ancient cedar forest. The shrine’s iconic red torii gate, located along the lakeshore, is one of the most famous and photographed spots in Japan.
We will enjoy a pleasant drive toward Japan’s highest mountain, Mt. Fuji. From the end of May through the end of October excluding July and August, we will visit Mt. Fuji’s 2nd Station, located at an elevation of approximately 1,200 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy fresh mountain air and stunning views. During the winter season and the climbing season (July, August, and early September), we will instead visit alternative scenic spots such as Gotemba Peace Park or Lake Yamanaka, both offering beautiful nature and excellent views of Mt. Fuji.
Upon request, your guide can arrange a stop for a traditional Japanese lunch at a local restaurant in Gotemba. Enjoy a delicious and authentic Japanese meal made with fresh, local ingredients. Vegetarian options are available. (Lunch is optional.)
On your way back to Odawara Station, your guide will drive you up to Daikanzan Observatory, one of the best viewing spots in Hakone. From this scenic lookout, you’ll enjoy a magnificent, breathtaking panorama of Hakone and Mt. Fuji. It’s a perfect place to take stunning photos and create unforgettable memories.
After the guide returns the rental car, we will take the Bullet Train back to Tokyo. Since Odawara Station is a local Shinkansen stop, you’ll have the chance to watch the Nozomi Shinkansen race past on the passing track at astonishing speed—an unforgettable sight that truly shows the power of Japan’s rail technology. After witnessing the Nozomi flash by, sit back and relax as we enjoy a comfortable 40-minute Bullet Train ride back to Tokyo Station.
After arriving at Tokyo Station, your guide will take you back to your hotel or the original pick-up location from the morning by subway or train. Your amazing one-day private tour concludes at your hotel. We hope you truly enjoyed the experience!
