Mishima Taisha is one of the oldest and most important Shinto shrines in the area, with a history spanning over 1,300 years. It was respected and admired by numerous samurai warlords, including Minamoto no Yoritomo, the founder of the Kamakura Shogunate government. You can enjoy a very tranquil and sacred atmosphere within the shrine precincts, and you will also learn how Shinto influences Japanese lifestyle and culture.
