Visit this grandiose remote and pristine natural area of Southern Tanzania, Nyerere National Park, formerly known as the Selous Nature Reserve. It is the largest park in East Africa, which is famous for its numerous lion prides, rare and endangered African wild dogs, elephant herds, giraffes, and a variety of landscapes, from the open plains to the bush, woodlands and wetlands. The mighty Rufiji River flows through the park, teeming with playful but quite dangerous hippos and Nile crocodiles. We will pick you at your location about 5:00 AM, your driver guide will meet you by your 4WD safari vehicle and drive southwest. Of course you can join this tour from another location than Zanzibar as well. We will make it happen. You will arrive well around lunchtime, right in time for a hearty meal in your wilderness lodge. Later in afternoon, after your lunch and a short break, your captain will collect you from the lodge and escort you to the river bank. Here you will step in a motorboat with a tent, and your exciting boat safari adventure on the Rufiji River begins. You will approach the schools of hippos, spot crocodiles, observe colorful birds and primates in the trees along the banks. Giraffes, elephants and various antelopes often come to drink water in the evening time. After watching the sunset over the mighty Rufiji, you will return to your comfortable and authentic lodge.

This morning we invite you to join us for a full-day game drive experience from dawn till dusk. Variety of Nyerere’s landscapes, from open grasslands, winding rivers, and wetlands to bushland and dense woods set the stage for thrilling big game encounters. Your driver guide will help you to spot iconic African animals such as lions, leopards, giraffes, elephants, elands and hippos in the blend of Nyerere’s habitats. Experience the untamed wonders of this remote gem of Tanzanian south. Enjoy your hot bush lunch, surrounded by the raw beauty of the nature, and continue your game. In the evening, return to your lodge situated in proximity to wild nature, allowing you to experience the sounds of the African night.

There is no better way to get close to nature than to stroll through it on foot. Early in the morning, after a steaming cup of tea or coffee, you will depart from your lodge into the suburbs of Selous Game Reserve, guided by a local bushman and a Masai. They can tell you about almost everything – from flora and birdlife to small and large animals. You will notice and explore things and details that were hidden from your eyes on your game drive. Often, with a little luck, we can “spy on” an elephant or a giraffe! Observe and learn the secrets of the African bush, this unforgettable experience will stay with you forever. After you rewarding bush walk experience, return to you lodge for late breakfast, grab your lunch boxes, and your driver guide will be ready to transfer you back to Dar es Salaam airport or sea port for your return flight or ferry to Zanzibar
