Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is an important historical attraction of Hanoi, known for honoring the national hero: President Ho Chi Minh. The body of President Ho Chi Minh is embalmed and preserved in the central hall of the mausoleum and is protected by an honour guard of Vietnamese soldiers.
One pillar pagoda is considered as the pride of ancient Thang Long, Vietnamese Buddhism and as of the whole Vietnamese race it self. As a famous tourist destination in Hanoi, One Pillar Pagoda has a long history and rich culture that any visitor must admire.
Erected in the 6th century, the Chua Tran Quoc is one of the incredible Hanoi places to visit. This pagoda is notably the oldest and has been here around for 1500 years now. On the grounds here you will spot a Bodhi tree under which it is believed that Buddha searched for enlightenment.
The Temple of Literature is the first university complex in Vietnam. Not only is it a cultural and historical relic, it is also where many students come to pray for luck in their upcoming exams and studies.
The most notable part of the Citadel is the Central Sector, which was listed as one of the UNESCO Natural World Heritage Sites in 2010. The Central Sector of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long expresses a set of intercultural exchanges with major influences from China in the north and the Champa Kingdom in the South.
Hoa Loa Prison (later known as Hanoi Hilton) was a famous prison located in Hanoi's French District that received great notoriety because of its use by French colonial government, and later North Vietnamese fighters during the Vietnam War. Many patriots, revolution leaders of Vietnam, were captured in Hoa Lo prison.
