Step into a comfortable, air-conditioned private vehicle, embarking on a 1.5-hour journey through the scenic beauty of Belgium. Please note that Brussels is a significant distance from the port, allowing limited time for exploration. The Grand-Place is the central square of the City of Brussels. All over the world it is known for its decorative and aesthetic wealth. The Grand-Place is surrounded by the guild houses, the City Hall and the Maison du Roi.
The Pissing Boy or Manneken Pis is one of the most famous landmarks in Brussels, located in the immediate vicinity of the Grand Place, at the intersection of Bath and Oak Streets. It is a miniature bronze fountain statue in the form of a naked boy peeing into a pool.
Galeries St Hubert is Europe's first arcade, opened in Brussels in 1847. Along with the passage in St Petersburg, opened in 1848, and the Galeria Victor Emmanuel II in Milan, opened in 1867, it was a major influence on later shopping gallery design.
The Cathedral of St Michael and Gudula is a Gothic cathedral in Brussels, the capital of Brabant and now Belgium. A veritable juxtaposition of Brabant Gothic styles takes us back to the 13th century and the atmosphere of the great builders. Its two towers give it a very French appearance. Building of the cathedral started in 1226, whilst the facade dates from the 15th century.
Brussels Park, known for many years previously as the Royal Park, is the oldest park in the region which became a public park. Built on the ruins of the park of the Dukes of Burgundy and the Governors of the Spanish Netherlands, it stands proudly between the Federal Parliament and the Royal Palace, symbols of power and the monarchy.
The Sablon or Zavel is a neighbourhood and hill in the historic upper town of Brussels, Belgium. At its heart are twin squares: the larger Grand Sablon or Grote Zavel ("Large Sablon") square in the north-west and the smaller Petit Sablon or Kleine Zavel ("Small Sablon") square and garden in the south-east, divided by the Church of Our Blessed Lady of the Sablon.
This street dates back to the Middle Ages and was once known for the sausage-makers and butcher shops that could be found here. These days, it best known as a tourist hot spot, lined with bars and restaurants with endless tables filling in the cobblestone surfaced passageway.
