In the morning, you will depart from Ulaanbaatar and begin your journey southward into the heart of Mongolia's Gobi Desert. As you travel through the vast and open steppes, the landscapes will gradually change, giving you a glimpse of Mongolia's diverse terrain. Along the way, you’ll have breaks to take in the scenery and enjoy the serenity of the wide Mongolian countryside.
In the afternoon, you’ll stop at a local restaurant for lunch before continuing your journey. You will arrive at Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa), where you can explore the spectacular limestone cliffs that rise up 30 meters high. These formations have been sculpted by wind and weather over millions of years, resulting in vibrant, colorful layers that resemble a ruined city. You can take a walk around the area, enjoying the unique landscape and learning about its geological history.
As evening falls, you’ll arrive at your ger camp for the night. After a traditional Mongolian dinner, you’ll have time to unwind and take in the beautiful desert night sky, known for its stunning star displays.
After breakfast at your ger camp, you’ll set off toward Yolyn Am, a dramatic ice canyon located in the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park. The drive offers stunning views of the desert as it transitions into the mountainous region, providing opportunities to spot wildlife like gazelles and eagles along the way.
Upon arriving in the early afternoon, you’ll explore the Yolyn Am Ice Canyon, a gorge famous for its deep crevices and, even in the height of summer, remnants of winter ice. You’ll hike through the canyon, surrounded by towering rock walls, and take in the cool, shaded beauty of this rare natural wonder. A picnic lunch in the park area will allow you to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the Gobi’s hidden treasures.
In the evening, you’ll drive to a nearby ger camp nestled in the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan Mountains. Here, you’ll enjoy a traditional Mongolian dinner and have the opportunity to unwind after a day of exploration. The peaceful mountain setting provides a perfect backdrop for an evening of relaxation.
The morning begins with breakfast at the camp before heading to one of Mongolia’s most iconic sites, Khongoryn Els, also known as the "Singing Dunes." These massive sand dunes stretch for over 100 kilometers and reach heights of up to 300 meters. The journey through the desert offers spectacular views of the endless dunes and the surrounding Gobi landscape.
Upon arrival in the afternoon, you’ll have lunch at a nearby ger camp, preparing for an afternoon of adventure. Afterward, you’ll explore Khongoryn Els on foot or by camelback. Riding camels through the dunes is a quintessential Gobi experience, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the vast, tranquil beauty of the desert. The name "Singing Dunes" comes from the sound created when the wind shifts the sand, a unique phenomenon you’ll witness as you climb the towering dunes for panoramic views of the desert.
As the sun sets, you’ll return to the camp for a hearty dinner and a restful evening, surrounded by the serene beauty of the desert.
After breakfast at the ger camp, you will prepare for a drive to Bayan Zag, famously known as the Flaming Cliffs. The journey will take you through stunning desert landscapes, offering opportunities to take photos and enjoy the vastness of the Gobi.
Upon arrival in the early afternoon, you’ll enjoy lunch at a nearby camp before exploring Bayan Zag. This site is renowned for its striking red sandstone cliffs that glow vividly in the sunlight. You will have the chance to hike around the cliffs and search for dinosaur fossils, as this area is one of the most significant paleontological sites in Mongolia. Your guide will share stories about the dinosaurs that once roamed this land and the fascinating discoveries made here.
You will return to your ger camp for dinner. Enjoy the evening by sharing stories around the campfire and gazing at the star-filled sky.
After breakfast, you will depart from Bayan Zag and head toward Ongi Temple, an ancient site rich in history. As you travel, you’ll pass through picturesque landscapes, including vast steppes and rolling hills.
You’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant or picnic along the way. Upon arrival at Ongi Temple, you will explore the ruins of this once-thriving Buddhist monastery, established in the 17th century. Your guide will provide insights into the temple's history and its significance in Mongolian culture.
You’ll head to a nearby ger camp for dinner and an overnight stay. Spend the evening relaxing and reflecting on the day’s experiences.
After breakfast, you will depart from Ongi Temple and travel to Orkhon Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its stunning natural beauty and rich history. The journey will take you through scenic landscapes, including grasslands and mountains.
Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy lunch at a ger camp located in the Orkhon Valley. After lunch, you’ll embark on a hike to the Orkhon Waterfall, a beautiful cascade that is one of Mongolia’s most picturesque natural sites. Enjoy the breathtaking views as you hike along the trails, and take time to relax by the waterfall.
Return to the ger camp for dinner. You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional cultural performance, learning more about Mongolian music and dance.
After breakfast at the ger camp, you’ll depart for Tsenkher Hot Springs, a natural geothermal site known for its warm waters. The drive will take you through lush valleys and mountainous terrain, providing picturesque views along the way.
Upon arrival at Tsenkher Hot Springs, you’ll have lunch at a nearby restaurant or ger camp. Afterward, you can enjoy a relaxing soak in the warm mineral-rich waters, which are said to have therapeutic properties. Take time to unwind and appreciate the beautiful natural surroundings.
Return to the ger camp for a traditional Mongolian dinner. Spend the evening relaxing under the stars, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and sharing stories of your travels.
Following breakfast, you will set off for Kharkhorin. The drive takes you through open plains and valleys, heading toward the former capital of the Mongol Empire.
In the afternoon, visit Erdene Zuu Monastery and tour the grounds. You will also explore the Kharkhorin Museum, where you will learn more about the ancient city’s role in Mongolian history. Lunch will be served in town during the day's activities.
Arrive at the ger camp for the evening. After dinner, you will have time to rest or engage in conversations about the history and sites visited earlier in the day.
After breakfast, you will depart from Kharkhorin and head back to Ulaanbaatar. The drive will take you across the central Mongolian steppe, with the journey back giving you time to reflect on the places visited.
