When you set out to conquer the Ourika valley, it is impossible to resist the charm of the region, as the ecosystem is so preserved. It is often difficult to imagine that we are only 40 km from the bustling city of Marrakech.
The Ourika valley is characterized above all by a green environment where the river from which it takes its name meanders sometimes lazily, sometimes briskly depending on the intensity of the slopes of the High Atlas. These houses usually have a unique architectural style, with thick walls to withstand the region's extreme weather conditions, flat or sloping roofs covered with straw or tiles, and sometimes decorative elements such as geometric patterns. Berber houses are often designed to blend harmoniously into the surrounding mountainous landscape. In the Ourika Valley, some of these houses can also be transformed into accommodation for visitors, providing an immersive experience in Berber culture and local architecture.
