Overview – Corcovado Overnight: Hike In & Boat Out
Embark on an unforgettable overnight adventure in Corcovado National Park, one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. This 2-day expedition begins with an 18 km trek from La Leona Ranger Station to Sirena, crossing pristine rainforest and coastal trails teeming with wildlife such as monkeys, scarlet macaws, and tapirs.
Spend the night at the remote Sirena Biological Station, surrounded by the sounds of nature deep within the heart of the park.
On the second day, explore Sirena’s network of trails in the morning before boarding a scenic boat back to Puerto Jiménez, gliding across the Pacific while enjoying breathtaking ocean views and possible encounters with dolphins or sea turtles.

Day 1 – Hike from La Leona to Sirena Ranger Station Our certified guide will meet you early in Puerto Jiménez for a 4×4 transfer to Carate, the starting point of your Corcovado adventure. 5:20 am – Departure from Puerto Jiménez. Meet your guide and take the vehicle transfer (about 1.5 hours) to Carate. 7:00 am – Begin the 18 km hike through La Leona sector. Walk along beaches and rainforest trails, crossing small rivers while your guide interprets the park’s diverse ecosystems and wildlife such as monkeys, macaws, and coatis. 11:30 am – Snack and short rest in the shade. Rehydrate before continuing the journey. 3:00–4:00 pm – Arrival at Sirena Ranger Station. Check in with park rangers and settle into your accommodation. 6:00 pm – Dinner and overnight stay. Relax and enjoy a well-deserved meal at Sirena Station.
Day 2 – Return from Sirena to Puerto Jiménez The day begins early with optional birdwatching around Sirena Station before breakfast. After enjoying a hearty morning meal, you’ll pack your belongings and get ready for departure. 7:00 am – Breakfast at Sirena Station. Enjoy a typical Costa Rican breakfast while listening to the sounds of the rainforest. 8:00 am – Short morning hike around Sirena. Explore nearby trails with your guide for final wildlife sightings and a last chance to enjoy the magic of Corcovado. 12:45 pm – Boat pick-up at the beach. Board the boat for your return journey across the Pacific coastline, enjoying scenic ocean views and, with a bit of luck, spotting dolphins or sea turtles. 2:15 pm – Arrival at Puerto Jiménez. End of the tour and drop-off at the public dock, where your Corcovado adventure concludes.
