We leave Muscat with a drive on the coastal road, a very scenic route perfect for photo opportunities. We stop for a visit at the Bimah Sinkhole for photos and, if you like, a swim in the blue and green water of the sinkhole.
We will visit White sands beach of Fins where you will see the gorgeous, vast white sand beaches.
The Wadi Shab is a huge canyon gorge that has its own paradise. Filled with palm trees and other greenery, the mountain truly has character. Around 35-minute hike up through the wadi, we reach the end where we take a chance to relax, swimming and enjoy the nature of Oman.
The tour continues to Ras al Had. We will quickly check-in to our hotel/camp and then make our way to the turtle sanctuary in Ras Al Jinz. At this point, the evening sky will take over and we will take a guided tour in the beautiful beach under the stars where we have a good chance of seeing Oman’s great sea turtles making their way onto the beach to build their nests and lay their eggs. If we are lucky, we may see baby turtles hatching from the eggs. Overnight stay in Ras Al Hadd.
After a great breakfast, we continue a sightseeing tour in Sur. Sur is one of the most important towns on the northern Omani cape. Something fascinating in Sur is one of the last Omani shipyards. We will take you to see one of the small workshops where Omani traditional boats are still made by hand.
We will stop at the 16th Century tomb of Bibi Al Battuta (Qalhat) in the second quarter of the 14th century.
On the way back to Muscat, our tour will stop in Wadi Tiwi Photo Stop. This wadi is especially pretty with some small villages and the large banana plantation. After this visit, we return to Muscat. NOTE: Good Hiking Shoes – We recommend you wear good sturdy hiking shoes like these for the hike to Wadi Shab. Swimwear, you can wear what makes you comfortable. Quick-Dry Towel. A small and lightweight towel like this one is the perfect thing to take to Wadi Shab.
