Merida : Traditional Yucatec Cooking Class

It’s not just a Mexican cooking class: Yucatecan cuisine is famous for its history, its flavor, its seasonings and the diversity of ingredients that make it unique, which we will explain throughout the experience. We will show you the best way to prepare each dish and you will witness the incredible flavors that have given world fame to this cuisine, recognized as part of Mexican gastronomy declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. All accompanied by history, tradition and an excellent attitude.

Meeting point

The meeting point will be in the lobby of Hotel Santiago at the indicated time. Afterwards, we will move to the kitchen to start the workshop

What to expect

The class starts at the Merida Santiago Hotel Boutique, where, with coffee or tea, you will decide with the chef the menu: entree, entree and dessert, with typical Yucatecan and Mexican dishes. Then we will walk to the nearby Mercado de Santiago to buy local ingredients such as annatto, pomegranate and habanero chile.

Back in the hotel’s kitchen, you’ll learn techniques, traditions and a few words in Spanish and Mayan as you prepare dishes. The experience ends with a delicious lunch by the pool.
