Tokaj sweet wines have been sought after by kings and wine lovers the world over for centuries. While the larger and better-known part of the Tokaj region is in Hungary, there are 175 hectares of vineyards around three Slovak villages recognized as part of the Tokaj region.

The Slovak Tokaj is less known, and less touristy but very authentic, charming, and welcoming for international visitors.

What to expect

Experience the 14th-century wine cellar in Tokaj (or Tokay), the second oldest recognized wine appellation in the world (after Chianti). Tokaj & CO is the largest producer of this world-renowned wine in the Slovak part of the Tokaj region producing naturally sweet wines.

Learn about the history and traditions of Tokaj wine making and taste nine wines from the Tokaj & CO production, from the three traditional Tokaj varieties: furmint, lipo vina, and yellow muscat all the way to Tokaj hod wine (Tokaj aszú) sweetened with the hand-picked, dried and noble rotten grape berries.

The tasting is accompanied by a small snack.
