Early in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel at 8am, you will drive to Tarangire National Park for a full day of game drive in this magnificent park with a variety of wildlife and majestic Baobab trees. Elephants are abundant in this park so you are sure to run into them. And, they do get close. Driving through the park you’ll also have the opportunity to see lions, cape buffalo, a variety of antelopes, and sometimes the elusive leopard.
Mto Wa Mbu village is near the entrance of Lake Manyara located between Manyara and Ngorongoro. You will spend half a day with a local discovering how Tanzanians live day-to-day. Markets, schools, churches, local restaurants, it’s all there for you to visit. Try mbege, the traditional banana and millet beer that is brewed and drunk mainly by the Chagga tribe. Or jump on a bajaj (tuk-tuk) and explore the surroundings in this local mode of transportation. In the afternoon, you head over to Migombani campground and soak in the pool while enjoying the amazing views of Lake Manyara.
oday you will make your way to the wide-open plains of the Serengeti, traveling through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, skirting the mighty volcanic Ngorongoro Crater. A quick stop at the Ngorongoro viewpoint to admire the grandiose scenery of the crater. Head back into the 4×4, as you drive to the ‘Endless Plains.
Enjoy a full-day game drive in Serengeti as you watch the landscape change within the park from the vast treeless central plains to the thick shrub and forest in the north. Linking these areas is the savanna, punctuated by acacia trees and magnificent rock formations. Before dawn, you will drive to your camp site in Serengeti. There you will get dinner before retiring to your tent to get a good night’s sleep. But, bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. The camp’s surroundings are not enclosed so you are sure to hear some interesting activity outside your tent as you fall asleep. Hakuna Matata! The area is safe.
Today, enjoy another full day of safari in Serengeti. Start at sunrise with a morning game drive, then return to the camp in the middle of the day to escape the midday sun. Take some time to relax and enjoy a meal, then when it’s cooled down and the animals are more active, set out again for an afternoon game drive. End another adventure filled day at the camp, perhaps to enjoy a refreshing ‘sundowner’; an iconic part of traditional safari life. Dating back to the great safaris of the 1920’s, there’s no better way to finish up an exciting day of wildlife viewing than gathering for drinks and nibbles while watching the sun go down.
This morning you will depart the Serengeti National Park and travel back to the Ngorongoro Crater. Within this crater lies every type of ecosystem, including riverine forests, open plains, freshwater and alkaline lakes. The scenery is awe-inspiring as you descend almost 600 metres down to the crater floor. Within its 300 square kilometres lies a remarkable concentration of wildlife, so on your game drive you may see some, or all, of the ‘big five’ creatures that rule here, including the highly endangered black rhinoceros.
Sadly, this is the end of our adventure. We will accompany you back to Kilimanjaro International Airport, hoping to see you again. Note: Make sure your flight is booked after 6pm
