What to expect

This self-guided off-road bike adventure starts at South Hobart shop. Here you'll be welcomed by the staff & receive a ride briefing, trail map, helmet, & gloves. You'll also be introduced & fitted to your rental bike.

Next, board the minibus for a 15 minute shuttle to the village of Fern Tree, in the foothills of Mt Wellington; this is where your bike ride starts. The shuttle driver will show you the start of the trail, it's called the Pipeline Track.

This is a self-guided ride, so you can go at your own pace, and make your own schedule.

From the shuttle drop-off point, you can ride up the Pipeline Track for up to 13 km. It's a very gentle ascent, almost flat, taking you deeper into the rainforest.

At the furthest point of the trail you'll find a spring, cascading over the rocks. At this point, turn around, and roll back down the Pipeline Track.

Once you're back at Fern Tree, the forest trail continues to descend for another 7 km back to the shop in South Hobart. The last 1.5km to the shop is quiet residential road.
Riding the entire trail, expect to cover about 33km.

The trail is signed, plus we provide a printed map and a map that can be accessed on a mobile phone.
