The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, commonly referred to as Como Cathedral, was built over the course of almost four centuries, starting in 1396 with the first design, modified several times, and ending with the erection of the dome in 1740.
The Broletto is one of the oldest buildings in the city, nestled between the magnificent façade of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta on the right, and the Torre Civica on the left.
Bellagio is one of the most internationally renowned tourist resorts, nicknamed 'the pearl of the lake'. But what makes it so special? First of all, its strategic location was perfect in the past to control a large part of the lake, which, as you know, is shaped like an inverted Y. The promontory on which Bellagio stands, culminating in Punta Frangivento, is the exact point of separation of the Como and Lecco branches.
The beautiful town of Cernobbio is very famous for two buildings in particular: Villa d'Este, one of the most prestigious hotels in the world, frequented since the end of the 19th century by illustrious personalities, and Villa Erba, which was also inhabited by the famous Italian film director Luchino Visconti, whose rooms can currently only be visited by appointment.
The historic village of Lenno, which is part of the municipality of Tremezzina, overlooks an area of the lakefront known as the Tremezzina Riviera or Rivieria of the Azaleas, a stretch of coastline along which are reflected some of the most beautiful historic villas around the lake.
