Your Naturalist guide will focus on searching for wildlife in their wintertime habitats. You'll explore Grand Teton National Park and the National Elk Refuge to look for elk, moose, bison, bighorn sheep, coyotes, deer, foxes, waterfowl, bald eagles, and possibly a wolf. We use a hightop van with plenty of room and window seats. Your guide will stop for plenty of photo ops. Along the way, you will hear about the ecology and history of this region.
Your guide will pick you up next to the Welcome Center Doors by the parking lot.
Your Naturalist guide will focus on searching for, viewing, and learning about the area's world class wildlife. Frequent sightings include, moose, elk, bighorn sheep, mule deer, bald eagles, coyote, bison and occasionally wolves. Our guides know where to look and provide interesting colorful narration about the areas natural and human history. Binoculars and spotting scopes included. 2-3 hours
On average, there are roughly 5,000 elk that migrate to the Refuge during the winter months. If you’re lucky you may even see more (herds of up to six to eight thousand have been reported!) Elk are usually seen on the Refuge December to April.
