Meeting and pickup

Meeting point

Meet in the parking lot by the Veterans Memorial next to the river. I'll be in my grey Mazda CX5 SUV. You'll then follow me in your vehicle to the trailhead which is about a 30 minute drive one way. The tour begins and ends at the trailhead. Each participant will be required to sign a risks form.

End point
This activity ends back at the meeting point.

What to expect

This activity is perfect if you're a snowshoeing beginner or prefer to snowshoe on gentle terrain while taking in the stunning lake, mountain, and forest views of Rocky Mountain National Park. Snowshoes, trekking poles, and hot drink are included in the price.

We'll start with a 20 minute snowshoeing tutorial where we'll show you how to use the gear and practice moving with it on. Please wear sturdy, waterproof hiking boots for snowshoeing. The 2 hours of snowshoeing will begin after the tutorial.

This snowshoeing activity takes us on a trail around the historic Sprague Lake and then through the peaceful, less traveled forest in Glacier Gorge whose rocks were cut by glaciers tens of thousands of years ago. The forest is filled with pristine pine and quaking aspen. It's difficult not to feel a sense of calm and peace in this environment. You can enjoy incredible mountain views from Sprague Lake and the Glacier Gorge trail without the chaos of being on the popular trails.
