From here we are heading south through several typical villages and you will have the opportunity to spot nomad families living in their tents along the road.
After our lunch in Midelt we continue our drive and enjoy panoramic views crossing the Tizi N' Talghoumt pass.
In Erfoud, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the valley of the river Ziz lined with thousands of date palms.
Now we’re almost at the dunes! After arriving in Merzouga, we will enjoy our dinner in the desert lodge where we'll spend the night in one of the best Luxury Riads in Merzouga.
Start your visit to the area around Merzouga and the land of the Ait Khebbach tribe with pick-up from your accommodation in a spacious and comfortable 4x4 vehicle. Drive to Rissani with the opportunity to visit the local market with the «donkey parking» and have a look at some fossils outside the city.
Continue your desert exploration with a visit to the village of Khamlia. Here, you'll enjoy the inhabitants' music and dance, and have the opportunity to try their instruments and learn to play some desert music of your own!
Afterwards, take a 4x4 down a gravel road to the Lake of Merzouga (also named Lake Tamezguida), which appears seasonally from November to May during the rainy season in Middle Atlas. This is the best spot to see desert birds, and sometimes even flamingos! Return to your accommodation in Merzouga in the late afternoon.
After arriving back in Merzouga, you will experience a one hour camel ride to reach the desert camp while the sun sinks down behind the dunes. Enjoy your evening dining in a berber tent, look for shooting stars at the camp fire and sleep in nomad tent!
Wake up by the first strays of light to watch the sunrise over the sahara before you enjoy your typical breakfast. We return on the camel's back or 4x4 to the village of Merzouga to meet your driver and continue your tour.
We start our journey in direction Fes after and head for the Middle Atlas Mountains. We'll drive through several typical villages and you will have the opportunity to spot nomad families living in their tents along the road.
This mountain village is worth a trip for its troglodyte cave houses built into the picturesque rocks and painted in pastel colors of pink, yellow and blue. The cave dwellings date back to the 4th century and have been inhabited by shepherds for hundreds of years. Some caves are still in use as the cool, spacious salon of the house while the bedrooms are built above.
