Today, you will be met by a representative of Big Apes Africa at Kigali International Airport and driven to Musanze Town near Volcanoes in preparation for the golden monkey trekking the next day. Should you arrive in plenty of time, you may do a short city tour before leaving the beautiful clean city.
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the popular Volcanoes National Park for a briefing before entering the forest to search for the bamboo-associated primates. Some consider this as the next best thing after gorilla trekking. You will be allowed one hour with these beautiful Albertine Rift endemics. After this activity, you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in preparation for gorilla trekking. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.
After an early breakfast, you will drive to the briefing point in the forest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to get enlightened about your adventure with the mountain gorillas. You are advised to carry enough drinking water and a lunch box. For US 20, you can get a potter to carry your bag and give you a hand in slippery or steep parts of the forest. After the briefing, you are distributed into groups of eight and led by a park ranger into the forest where you will spend one hour with the gentle giants. Rain gear is important considering that Bwindi is a tropical rainforest. After tracking, you will be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi, Africa’s most beautiful lake. While here, you could opt for a swim in the second deepest lake in Africa or explore the surrounding communities on foot.
After gorilla trekking, you will visit Lake Bunyonyi for canoeing or swimming
Today, you will be transferred from the most beautiful lake Bunyonyi to Kigali International Airport. Depending on how much time you have, you could visit the Genocide Memorial and do some shopping at the craft market in Kigali.
