This is far more than a transfer from point A to point B.

It’s a purposeful encounter with wildlife, a scenic journey through Alberta’s shifting landscapes, and a gentle, beautiful introduction to the Rockies — all wrapped into one seamless morning. Most importantly, it’s a chance to directly support the life‑changing rescue work of the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary, an organisation whose mission depends on visitors like you.

Say goodbye to Calgary’s skyline and step into a morning shaped by nature, learning, and genuine connection. Your experience begins with convenient pick‑ups at hotels near the airport (but not inside the airport) and in Downtown Calgary. Instead of a simple ride into the mountains, you’re embarking on a half‑day adventure designed to transform your travel time into something meaningful, emotional, and truly memorable.

The scenic drive continues past Ghost Lake, and Tsuut’ina Nation, with chances to spot wild horses, Rocky Mountain sheep, elk, and even bears.

As you leave the sanctuary, the landscape opens into rolling hills and wide‑open ranchlands, with the Rockies slowly rising ahead like a promise. This stretch is also known for its incredible wild horse sightings — small bands grazing freely against the backdrop of the foothills, a scene that feels almost cinematic. Continuing west, the road winds past the community of Tsu Tina, where the prairies begin to tighten and the mountains draw closer. The scenery shifts subtly — more pines, more rugged cliffs, more of that unmistakable feeling that you’re entering the Rockies proper. From time to time, it’s also possible to spot Rocky Mountain sheep, elk, and even the occasional bear wandering near the treeline. Before long, you’ll skirt the shores of Ghost Lake, where the water often mirrors the sky and the wind ripples across the surface in long silver streaks. It’s a peaceful, photogenic moment that makes you instinctively reach for your camera.
