Afternoon: Your journey continues to Pamukkale, a UNESCO World Heritage site known as the "Cotton Castle." We will then explore the adjacent ancient city of Hierapolis, walking through its stunningly preserved Roman theater and the vast Necropolis, a powerful reminder of ancient life.

Pamukkale to Thyatira via Philadelphia & Sardes

For an unforgettable experience in Pamukkale, consider an optional hot air balloon ride. If you're interested, be sure to ask your guide about it before we leave. Morning: We depart for Philadelphia (modern-day Alaşehir), the city with an open door that no one can shut, as mentioned in the Book of Revelation. Your guide will show you the modest but historically significant ruins of the church, a symbol of the steadfast faith that earned this city a special commendation.

Sardis (Sardes)
Afternoon: Your next stop is Sardes, the capital of the ancient Lydian Kingdom, a city of immense wealth. You will be captivated by the monumental Temple of Artemis and the beautifully restored Roman Gymnasium, complete with its baths. We will also visit one of the most magnificent and well-preserved ancient synagogues outside of Israel, which speaks to the city’s complex history.

Evening: We'll drive to Thyatira (modern-day Akhisar), a city noted for its prosperous guilds. Here, we will visit the ancient Roman road and the remains of a basilica, and you will learn about the challenges faced by its early Christian community. Overnight: Akhisar.

Day 3
Thyatira to Smyrna via Pergamum

Morning: We'll travel to Pergamum (modern-day Bergama), a city of immense power and intellect. You will be awed by the Acropolis, perched atop a steep hill, where you’ll see the stunning ruins of the Temple of Trajan and a theater so steep it feels as if it’s falling out of the sky. We will also visit the Asklepion, an ancient medical center, which was a symbol of healing and sanctuary.

Afternoon: The tour continues to Smyrna (modern-day İzmir), the vibrant coastal city that today is a bustling modern metropolis. The original city of Smyrna has been built over, but we will explore the remains of its ancient Roman Agora, where you can still feel the echoes of its past. Overnight: İzmir.

Smyrna to Ephesus

Full Day: Today, we will explore the magnificent city of Ephesus, the most important of the Seven Churches. You will walk on marble streets that still bear the marks of Roman chariots. The tour includes the breathtaking Library of Celsus, the massive Great Theater where St. Paul once preached, and the intricately preserved (Optional) Terrace Houses of the wealthy elite. We will also visit the ruins of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the tranquil House of the Virgin Mary. Overnight: Kuşadası or Selçuk
