The hike starts in Sigulda town and goes through the the biggest and most diverse nature parks of Latvia - "Gauja National Park". Your hike will begin with visiting the historical Sigulda medieval castle ruins before immersing into the world of small trails, views, forests, meadows and variety of vegetation like different plants, flowers and mushrooms.
Distance of the hike is ~15 km (89% nature; 20% city). Terrain is hilly, but not difficult - foot paths and stairs. Total ascent during the hike is ~100 m.
Have a day out in the nature enjoying green forests, meadows, river Gauja valley and listen to bird songs while having a relaxing walk.
Visit the medieval castle ruins and admire more than 800-year-old walls still standing. Be amazed by the view out of the castle watch tower.
Admire the colorful sandstone cave (grotto) with ancient inscriptions on the walls and hear a legend about the rose of Turaida.
Walk through the peaceful and charming Krimulda estate and see the old Krimulda manor (exterior only).
