Let's start from the oldest point of the city, the Roman arches of Pons Lepidis! Let's discover its history from the Neolithic to today, seeing centuries-old finds and photographs of the rediscovery of the forgotten bridge!
First only river pebbles, then large buildings and finally the bombings: with historical images in hand we will discover the changes in the square that has been the scene of the city's market since 1287! This will be followed by the first culinary stop in honor of the river from which it all originated: herb cake await you!
La Pilotta, what a marvel! Immense and beautiful, we will stop in the courtyard to observe the scars of the wars, the Renaissance arches where the Basque Pelota was played, the columns that have become trees and the Verdi Monument with its incredible history! Here’s the second culinary stop...la Spalla Cotta!
First the square, with its history full of unexpected traditions, then we will stop our gaze on the facade of the Cathedral: try to guess what must have been there...and isn't there! We will discover the political meanings of shapes and sculptures and enter the Cathedral to be speechless in front of the frescoes of the central nave! And then off you go, down the steps to admire Correggio’s masterpiece (the dome) and find out why it caused such a stir... that it scandalized citizens! On the way out, third culinary stop: Parmesan!
The Brick of Parma, an ancient measure, inaugurates the exploration of the largest square in the city! Our gaze will turn 360 degrees and we will see the Governor's Palace (and its muggings), the medieval Town Hall, the Portici, we will guess where the old civic tower was, we will say goodbye to the statue of Correggio and we will close our tour with the fourth gastronomic stop: Walking anolini!
