Depart in the early morning at 05:30 AM or 06:00 AM from Yogyakarta, driving through picturesque countryside to get to the hiking basecamp of Merbabu Mountain in Selo Village that stands at 1,836m.

The journey begins with a challenging ascent through lush tropical forests. Along the way, you may encounter local wildlife such as monkeys or colorful butterflies, adding to the sense of exploration and discovery. After hiking for about 4 hours and arriving at post 4 on 2,770m, the landscape begins to change as the forest gives way to green savanas decorated by wildflowers. The air becomes cooler as you approach the summit, where the reward for your efforts awaits. Once reaching the summit of Mount Merbabu at 3,142m, you can enjoy a well-deserved break. Take in the awe-inspiring views of Merapi Volcano from a short distance and enjoy the sweeping vista of Java's volcanic landscape stretching as far as the eye can see. After enjoying the view and exploring the summit area, you will descend via the same route, soaking in the sights and sounds of the natural surroundings once more. By late afternoon, in about 3 hours descent you will arrive back at the hiking basecamp.
