On Saturday evening, meet your group and Tour Leader for an informational meeting, where you’ll receive important details about the trip ahead. In the morning, head to UNESCO-listed Teotihuacan, one of the most awe-inspiring archaeological sites in Mexico. Set in a mountain-ringed valley near Mexico City, Teotihuacan was once the largest ancient city in the country and the center of a powerful pre-Hispanic empire. This is a perfect moment to capture the beauty of the coastline and appreciate the natural beauty of the area. Afterward, join an optional dinner with your group at one of the local restaurants, where you can indulge in the region’s delicious seafood and share stories from your day. In the morning, enjoy the sea and sun before heading to Sumidero Canyon for a boat trip that takes you through one of the most awe-inspiring natural landscapes in Mexico. As you cruise through the canyon, take in the stunning waterfalls, mystical caves, and dramatic cliffs, including the spot where the Chiapanec Warriors committed suicide rather than surrender to the Spanish Conquistadors. After the boat trip, continue to Chiapa de Corzo, one of the most picturesque towns in Chiapas. Known for its warm, welcoming people and colorful Renaissance architecture, this town is a true cultural gem. If you’re visiting in January, you’ll have the chance to experience the Fiesta Grande, a vibrant and traditional celebration that has been declared a UNESCO Intangible Heritage. In the morning, start with an orientation walk and optional lunch in San Juan de Chamula, a fascinating town known for its strongly independent Tzotzil ethnic group and their unique religious practices. The town offers an insightful glimpse into the region’s culture and spirituality, with rituals and customs that differ from mainstream Mexican traditions. In the evening, arrive in San Cristobal de las Casas, a charming colonial city nestled in a gorgeous highland valley surrounded by pine forests. This city, popular with travelers for decades, offers a rich cultural experience, blending history, art, and indigenous heritage. Check in to your accommodation and join an orientation walk to discover the town’s beauty. In the evening, enjoy an optional dinner followed by a get-together with the group to share the day’s adventures.
On the last day of our tour, enjoy a delicious breakfast before being transferred to the local bus station. From there, take a comfortable intercity bus to Tuxtla Gutierrez (approx. 1 hour 15 minutes). Once in Tuxtla, you’ll have the option to explore some of the city’s attractions or take a taxi directly to the Tuxtla Gutierrez International Airport (about 30-40 minutes) for your departure.
