The driver will meet you in Lagos, to your provided address. We can also provide pick-ups from other cities in the south of Portugal!
After the pick-up in Lagos or other city in the south of Portugal, we will begin our transfer to Évora, which usually takes around 2h45 straight. Stops along the way can always be done to your comfort.
When arriving to Evora we will begin our Tour from the Chapel of Bones. One of Évora's most iconic and thought-provoking attractions. Constructed in the 16th century by Franciscan monks, it is lined with the bones and skulls of approximately 5,000 people. This was a creative solution to cemetery overcrowding and a symbolic reminder of the transient nature of life. The haunting inscription at its entrance, “Nós ossos que aqui estamos pelos vossos esperamos” (“We bones that are here, await yours”), invites visitors to reflect on mortality. After the visit to the chapel, we will visit the museum on the 2nd floor and also a beautiful panoramic view over Evora city.
2 minutes from the Chapel of Bones, we will find St. Francis Church a magnificent example of Gothic and Manueline architecture. Known for its intricate details, the church features a grand altar and beautiful chapels that reflect the religious and artistic spirit of the 15th and 16th centuries. Its historical significance and stunning interior make it a must-visit destination.
5 minutes walking distance from the last spot, Évora Cathedral, or Se de Evora, is a stunning Gothic masterpiece and one of the oldest cathedrals in Portugal. Built between the 12th and 13th centuries, it features a mix of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. You’ll have the chance to climb the Cathedral’s tower for breathtaking panoramic views of Evora and the surrounding Alentejo countryside.
Just 2 minutes away from the Cathedral, The Roman Temple of Diana stands as a testament to Evora's ancient past. This remarkably well-preserved structure, dating back to the 1st century AD, reflects the city’s Roman heritage. Originally part of the Roman Forum, the temple is believed to have been dedicated to Emperor Augustus rather than Diana, despite its popular name. Its towering Corinthian columns and elevated platform make it a striking example of classical architecture. The temple is a highlight for history enthusiasts and an iconic symbol of Evora’s rich and diverse history.
Before heading south to the Algarve, take the time to savor Evora with a traditional Portuguese lunch. After exploring the city’s main monuments, our guide will bring you to a handpicked local gem, a restaurant known by residents for its authentic flavors and excellent value, often missed by visitors. We’re also flexible to your preferences: whether you’d like to try something special, have dietary restrictions, or food intolerances, we’ll make sure you enjoy a memorable meal tailored to you. Usually prices for Lunch are around 30€ per person, not included in the final price.
After a wonderful meal, sit back and relax as we take you along the scenic roads from Evora to the Lisbon. The drive takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, and we’ll drop you off directly at your chosen accommodation. For your comfort, we’re happy to make stops along the way whenever needed.
