Descend into one of Cappadocia’s best-known underground settlements. Explore a network of tunnels, ventilation shafts, kitchens, storage rooms and communal spaces carved beneath the ground. Learn how former communities used the underground city for shelter, daily life and protection. The visit includes narrow passages, stairs, low ceilings and uneven surfaces.
Stop at a viewpoint overlooking Pigeon Valley, named after the numerous pigeon houses carved into the cliffs. Your guide will explain why pigeons played an important role in Cappadocia’s traditional agricultural life. There will be time for photographs and panoramic views toward Uçhisar.
Explore one of Cappadocia’s most important rock-cut monastic settlements. Walk through churches, chapels, living quarters and communal spaces carved into the volcanic rock. Your licensed guide will explain the history of the region’s early Christian communities and the meaning of the surviving frescoes.
Enjoy lunch at a selected local restaurant. The menu normally includes a selection of Turkish dishes and may vary according to the restaurant and season. Vegetarian meals can be arranged with advance notice. Drinks are not included unless specifically stated.
Visit Devrent Valley, also known as Imagination Valley. Unlike many other Cappadocia attractions, Devrent is known primarily for its naturally sculpted formations. Look for rocks resembling a camel, animals and other familiar shapes.
Your guide will introduce Cappadocia’s volcanic history, cave settlements and extraordinary landscape before the main sightseeing program begins. Enjoy time for photographs and ask your guide questions about the region.
Continue to Avanos, a riverside town known for its pottery tradition and red clay obtained from the Kızılırmak River. Visit a traditional pottery workshop and watch local artisans demonstrate techniques passed down through generations. Depending on the workshop program, guests may also have an opportunity to try the pottery wheel. Purchases are optional.
After lunch, Walk among some of Cappadocia’s most impressive fairy chimneys at Paşabağ. See single-, double- and triple-headed rock formations and chambers carved into the volcanic stone. Your guide will explain how hermits and religious communities once used the area.
