Ephesus is an ancient Greek and Roman city located near modern-day Selçuk in Turkey. It was one of the most important cities of the ancient world, famous for the Temple of Artemis — one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — as well as its grand theater, Celsus Library, and well-preserved streets and houses.
The Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, was a grand sanctuary dedicated to the Greek goddess Artemis. Situated in Ephesus, it was famous for its impressive size and elegant marble design. Although only fragments remain today, the temple once showcased majestic columns and detailed sculptures, symbolizing the artistic and architectural mastery of the ancient era.
Şirince is a charming historic village originally settled by the Rum (Byzantine Greek) community, located on the hills above Selçuk, just 7 km from Ephesus. Following the Turkish War of Independence (1919–1922), a population exchange between Greece and Turkey was formalized, and the village became inhabited by Turkish families. Today, Şirince is renowned for its beautifully preserved traditional houses, peaceful atmosphere, and distinctive fruit-flavored wines. Visitors will have free time to explore the village and enjoy a wine-tasting experience.
