A taste of Palmer - we'll head to a glacial valley in scenic Hatcher Pass for a mellow 4-mile, out-and-back hike on a flat, well-maintained trail. Along the way, learn about how glaciers carved the Mint Valley and what prospectors found while panning in the early 20th century. We'll stop at an old beaver damn for snacks and a water break before heading back to the trailhead. Following our valley walk, we'll stop at a local brewery (non-alcoholic options available). Learn about the brewers, discover what's crafted using locally harvested ingredients, and sip on a beverage.
Guests have the option for a pick up in Wasilla, Palmer, or Anchorage. It's also possible to meet us at the Palmer Visitor Center and Museum.
If you did not opt for a pick up, we will meet at the Palmer Visitor Center and Museum for this adventure. You are welcome to park your vehicle in their parking lot or in the larger lot across the street.
Hatcher Pass and the stunning Talkeetna Mountains offer unparalleled hiking opportunities. From boreal forest to alpine tundra, explore scenic mountain views with your local guide, learning along the way.
Historic downtown Palmer offers ample opportunities to explore the area's past and present. We'll talk about how glaciers carved the valley, why our region is known for farming, and what the trajectory of the area looks like ahead.
