As you leave Edinburgh, one of the first things you’ll see is the Forth Rail Bridge. An iconic image of Scotland, the famous red structure was voted the most important manmade structure in Scotland, so it’s no wonder it’s now become a UNESCO World Heritage site.
As you travel back to Edinburgh, you will get to witness the wild and natural beauty of the Scottish countryside once more. Driving through rolling hills and towering mountains, you will pass by the still and beautiful waters of Loch Leven. A fantastic picture opportunity - and a breathtaking end to your tour with memories that will last a lifetime.
Falkland Palace is actually home to the world’s oldest surviving royal tennis court - and was one of Mary Queen of Scots’ favorite Royal Hunting Lodges. She was enchanted by the palace and its extensive formal gardens, where she would often pursue her hobbies in falconry, hunting, archery, and tennis.
On the way to Falkland Palace, you’ll pass through Falkland, a beautiful and historic village. It might feel familiar to you if you watch the much-loved ‘Outlander’ series, as Falkland was used as a filming location for the opening scenes where Claire and Frank arrive for their second honeymoon. As you travel through the village, you’ll catch sight of our next destination: Falkland Palace.
Lindores Distillery is possibly one of the most interesting distilleries in Scotland. The center itself is fairly new (it opened in 2017), but it’s situated on the site where whisky first came into being. Dating all the way back to 1494, it’s here, on this old farm/monastery where King James 4th placed a tax on the spirit and in doing so, officially created whisky. The birthplace of whisky and a pilgrimage for whisky lovers! The perfect start to your whisky tour. During peak times, this distillery tour may be unavailable. We'll offer an alternative distillery tour and confirm with you before booking.
