Departure from Marrakech & Drive into the High Atlas After breakfast, we leave Marrakech and start our journey toward the High Atlas Mountains. Very quickly, the scenery changes from city life to mountain landscapes, traditional villages, and winding roads.
Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m) – Scenic Viewpoints We cross the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest paved road in Morocco. Along the way, we stop at several panoramic viewpoints so you can take photos of the valleys, terraced fields, and Berber villages clinging to the hillsides.
Visit of Aït Ben Haddou (UNESCO Ksar) In the early afternoon, we arrive at the iconic Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Together we walk through its narrow alleys, climb up to the granary viewpoint, and discover the ancient earthen architecture that has been used in many films and series (Gladiator, Game of Thrones, etc.).
Drive through Ouarzazate, Skoura & Dades Valley After the visit, we continue via Ouarzazate, then along the road of kasbahs and palm groves through Skoura and the Dades Valley. You’ll see fortified villages, green oases and impressive rock formations as we approach the eastern side of the Atlas.
Arrival in Tinghir & Night at a wonderful guesthouse By late afternoon / early evening, we reach the Tinghir area and check in at a cozy guesthouse nestled in the valley. You’ll enjoy a half-board stay (dinner & breakfast) with creative cuisine made from local products, and a peaceful night surrounded by the mountains.
Breakfast & Departure from Dades Valley After breakfast, we leave the Dades region and drive toward Tinghir. The scenery changes from mountain landscapes to lush palm groves and small Berber villages. .
Visit of Todra Gorge (Walk Between the Cliffs) We arrive at the impressive Todra Gorge, where 300-meter-high limestone cliffs rise dramatically on both sides. You’ll have time for a short walk between the canyon walls, photo stops, and a moment to enjoy the fresh air of this spectacular natural site.
Drive Through Desert Villages & Fossil Area We continue our journey across arid desert landscapes, crossing villages such as Tinjdad and Erfoud — known for their date palms and fossil workshops. If you’re interested, we can stop to see how ancient marine fossils are polished and transformed into decorative pieces.
Arrival in Merzouga & Mint Tea Welcome In the early afternoon, we reach Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara dunes. You’ll enjoy a traditional mint tea welcome while preparing for your camel experience.
Camel Ride into the Erg Chebbi Dunes Your desert adventure begins with a peaceful camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. This slow, gentle ride lets you admire one of the most beautiful Sahara landscapes — perfect for unforgettable photos.
Sunset Over the Sahara We make a special stop on a high dune to watch the sunset over the Sahara, a magical moment where the colors of the sand change from gold to orange and red.
Arrival at Desert Camp & Dinner Under the Stars Arrive at your comfortable desert camp, where you’ll settle into your private tent. Enjoy a traditional dinner, followed by Berber music around the campfire. The night sky in the desert is incredibly clear — a perfect opportunity for stargazing.
Sunrise on the Dunes (Optional but Highly Recommended) Wake up early to witness the magical sunrise over the Sahara. The colors shift from deep blue to gold as the sun rises behind the dunes — an unforgettable moment and one of the highlights of the trip.
Breakfast at the Desert Camp Enjoy a peaceful breakfast in the desert, surrounded by the stillness of the dunes. After breakfast, pack your bags and get ready for the return ride
Return to Merzouga (Camel Ride or 4x4) We leave the camp and head back to Merzouga either by camel or 4x4 transfer, depending on your preference and comfort.
Visit of Rissani & Traditional Market (Souk) We continue toward Rissani, one of the oldest cities of southern Morocco and the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty. If it’s a market day, you’ll visit the traditional souk, famous for its spices, dates, traditional clothing, and the unique donkey parking area.
Drive through Alnif, Tazarine & Desert Plateaus We cross vast open landscapes, rocky plateaus, and traditional villages such as Alnif and Tazarine. This region offers incredible views of desert mountains and typical nomadic routes.
Arrival in Agdez & Palm Grove Walk In the late afternoon, arrive in Agdez, a peaceful town at the entrance of the Draa Valley. We take a small walk inside the palm grove, one of the largest in Morocco, filled with date palms, small canals, and ancient kasbahs.
Night in a Traditional Guesthouse (Half-Board) Check in at your authentic guesthouse in Agdez, where you’ll enjoy a relaxing evening, a delicious dinner, and a quiet night surrounded by palm trees and mountains.
Breakfast in Agdez & Departure Enjoy breakfast at your guesthouse, then begin your journey back toward Marrakech. The morning light over the palm groves of the Draa Valley offers beautiful photo opportunities.
Drive Through the Draa Valley (Kasbahs & Palm Groves) We follow the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest palm oasis. Along the way, you’ll see ancient kasbahs, ksours (fortified villages), and endless lines of date palms — a perfect place for photos and short stops.
Crossing the Anti-Atlas Mountains Next, we drive through the dramatic landscapes of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. This route is known for its volcanic rock formations, colorful hills, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking remote Berber villages.
Lunch Stop in Ouarzazate or on the Road Around midday, we stop for lunch in Ouarzazate or at a local restaurant on the way. You can enjoy traditional dishes such as tagines, couscous, grilled meats, or vegetarian plates.
Back Over the High Atlas Mountains In the afternoon, we cross the High Atlas again via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, stopping at a few scenic viewpoints for last photos of the mountains.
Arrival in Marrakech (Drop-off at Your Hotel/Riad) We reach Marrakech by late afternoon or early evening. You will be dropped off directly at your hotel or riad, ending your 4-day Sahara adventure with beautiful memories and unforgettable landscapes.
