It is located in Amambay Department, 45 km from the departmental capital, Pedro Juan Caballero and the border with Brazil. Established on February 11, 1976, it is a nature reserve, as well as a major historical site.

    Salto Suizo (Spanish for Swiss Waterfall) is the tallest and most visited of the area’s several waterfalls. A relatively small amount of water cascades over the sixty-two-meter high cliff top and is often nothing more than a fine mist by the time it reaches the swimming hole below. Just behind the waterfall is a cave which cuts into the rock face providing cool shade.
