    Pingvellir National Park

At our first stop we retrace the footsteps of the ancient Vikings by visiting Þingvellir National Park. Þingvellir is where the early settlers established their national assembly and took the first step to defining a nation. Þingvellir is an extremely dramatic and beautiful location. The park has many beautiful sights to behold and the whole area is brimming with history.

    Strokkur

A favorite stop along the Golden Circle is the highly active Geysir Hot Spring Area with boiling mud pits and the lively Strokkur which spouts water 30 meters (100 ft) into the air every few minutes. The area became active more than 1000 years ago and comprises more than a dozen hot hot spring holes. Although one can only see steam emerging from the surface of Geysir these days, its name was adopted to represent spouting hot springs all over the world.

    Gullfoss

As one of the most popular attractions in all of Iceland, Gullfoss is a waterfall located in the canyon of Hvítá river in the southwest of the country. The beautiful Hvítá river rushes southward in three steps into a narrow canyon with a breathtaking roar and grandeur. Furthermore, on clear days the magnificent Langjökull glacier, Iceland's second largest glacier, can be seen in the distance.

    Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Baths

The next stop is Laugavatn. It´s a town, a lake, and the home of Fontana Geothermal Spa. Whatever the weather you can be sure that Fontana is the perfect spot for relaxing in between sightseeing and enjoying the fresh Icelandic air. The view of the lake is spectacular – and if you´re daring enough you can even take a dip in the lake´s cool waters on the edge of the Spa. Afterwards you can warm up again by enjoying the natural saunas and bathing in the soothing warm pools of varying temperatures. In the saunas, hearing the boiling water bubble and gurgle below the floors is surreal – you can literally feel the geothermal power right underneath your feet.
