We, the staff of Excel India Tours will be at the port /pier 30 minutes before the arrival of your ship. You can find us ( as you come out from the immigration office ) holding the pager board of your name. We can also pick the travelers from places like Alappuzha Kottayam, Cherthala, Thuravoor, and Aroor as well. If you need pickup from places other than these, plese inform us. We will be able to arrange pickup on mutual agreed terms. For Example if it is Kollam, Trivandrum etc., we will be charging extra because those places are away from the route from Kochi to Kumarakom.
Commencing the tour from Kochi it heads to south of Kochi 10 km reaches the small town Aroor. Aroor is famous for Marine Fish processing and exporting companies that are reputed and many.
The next small town from Aroor is Chandiroor. This town where there are a few fish markets, coir yarn cottage industrial units and backwaters. the high way is studded with elegant residential buildings and small and some what shops sell daily needs of the people.
Another small town on the way towards Alappuzha is famous for backwaters and fish farms ( Pokkali Farms, where alternated rice and fish is farmed.)
The travel from Kochi to Alappuzha will pass through the small town of Aroor, where on the side of the National Highway we will see a magnificent Roman Catholic church, a fabulous building will be testimony to the devotion of the people to the religious life.
Thuravoor is famous for the great temple of Lord Siva. A typical temple with Kerala Temple architecture with a huge temple tank. This is a live temple and will see many devotees and pilgrims come to worship through out the day.
The village is remembered with respect for the famous Malayalam poet and lyricist Rama Varma. The poet will be remembered as long as Malayalee lives.
The village on the western side of the Vembanad lake is for a plethora of cottage industrial units making coir yarn and door mats from coconut fiber. This is the major source of income for the villagers. Also there are other jobs like clam collection from the lake fishing using indigenous method of cast net diving under water etc. this village is definitely store in stock to surprises for you. Thanneermukkom Bund is worth mentioning about when we pass this village. This bund or barrage across the lake is for stopping the salt water from entering the rice fields on the banks of the lake. We will have to travel on the road constructed on top of the barrage. Your one side is salt water while the other side is fresh water. Salt water is from the Arabian Sea which is down stream about 30 km. at Kochi.
Next is Aymanam the famous village where Ms. Arundhati Roy the author of "God of Small Things" booker price winning novel is born. The villagers are very proud of Arundhati Roy and her title.

This is a major town in Kerala between Kochi and Alappuzha. The place is famous for large scale factories manufacturing coir products- products made from coconut fiber like yarn mats carpets and ropes.) On the way to Alappuzha from Kochi we will be able to see these factories on the national highway side.
