    Floyd's Pelican Bar

Floyd’s Pelican Bar is a legendary little wooden bar perched on stilts in the middle of the sea off the south coast of Jamaica, near Parottee Bay in St. Elizabeth. It’s about a 20-minute boat ride from shore, which is half the fun. The bar is super rustic—built from driftwood, old pallets, and scrap materials—and feels like something straight out of a castaway dream. No roads, no Wi-Fi, no rush. Just turquoise water, pelicans gliding overhead, reggae vibes, and ice-cold Red Stripe beers. Floyd (the original owner) named it after the pelicans that used to gather on the sandbar. You can swim right around the bar, snorkel nearby, or carve your name into the wood like thousands of visitors before you. The food is simple and fresh—usually grilled lobster, fish, shrimp, and festival—caught the same day. It’s famous for being: One of the coolest bars in the world Totally off-grid and cash-only A must-visit for chill, adventurous travelers
