What to expect

Plan Name: Experience painting an authentic Takasaki Daruma doll.

Enjoy a 90-minute small-group workshop by ZEN CRAFTWORKS on the 2nd floor of "MICASADECO & CAFE KYOTO"—a traditional machiya townhouse near Kawaramachi and Gion. Paint your own authentic Takasaki Daruma made by Takeuchi Daruma Shop. Select from 6 colors, learn about its history and symbolism (cranes/turtles for longevity, "eye-opening" wishes), and practice brushwork. Paint the face, kanji, or original designs with black ink and gold paint, then take it home in a custom bag!
