Your pick up will be at 9 am from your accommodation and in approximately 45 minutes, you'll reach city of Ston that is situated at the beginning of Pelješac peninsula. Ston is an important historical city for Dubrovnik region. It is very famous for its salt pans that were main mean of negotiation for Republic of Ragusa. Salt was treated and valued as much as gold in the past which made Ston of crucial importance for the whole Republic. To protect salt pans, huge walls around the city were built. Now these are second longest stone walls in the world. Needless to say, Ston is worth visiting and exploring and you will get some free time for sightseeing. You can have coffee, or famous Ston cake called 'makaruli', or just walk around narrow streets and discover the city.
It takes approximately an hour to get from Ston to Orebić which is situated almost at the end of peninsula. From Orebić you will take a passenger boat to Korčula. The ride is only 15 minutes long, but the views are splendid!
Korčula is one of the best preserved medieval old towns, with timeless beauty and stories imprinted in the stone. Plenty of narrow streets and palaces await you on this tour, as well as the Marco Polo house and museum, and Korčula's rich traditions, which to this day are passed on from generation to generation. Local guide will be waiting for you on Korčula for the walking tour of this beautiful city. After the tour you will have approximately two hours of free time to explore old town by yourself or to try some delicious Dalmatian food.
On your way back from Korčula to Dubrovnik, you'll ride through Pelješac again, which is one of the best known wine regions in the area. Get ready for a lot of spectacular views along the way. You will make a stop in Wine Museum located in small village of Putniković. Here you will have wine tasting and local snacks, but also you will be able to see traditional clothes, paintings and exhibitions related to wine making and long history of it.
You will be passing through Pelješac peninsula twice, on our way to Korčula and on our way back. You will make stops on Pelješac as it has perfect spots for enjoying local products and learning about its tradition. Road on Pelješac is curvy and very interesting as you can constantly see vineyards, sea or both! There are plenty of panoramic places where you can spontaneously decide to make a stop and take some gorgeous photos. Trip throughout this region will definitely stick with you for a long time.
